Lassen sich biologische Daten künstlerisch interpretieren? Meine unter dem Titel „CYTO-GALAXIES“ zusammengefassten Arbeiten sind expressionistische Transformationen biologischer Daten, die das Leben in der Zelle widerspiegeln. Mit diesen Transformationen verlieren die biologischen Daten ihre reale Verortung und beginnen ein fantastisches Eigenleben jenseits ihres wissenschaftlichen Ursprungs. Es entsteht ein Kosmos aus Formen und Farben, der in die Unendlichkeit entführt, letztlich aber auf realen molekularen Bauplänen beruht: ein fiktives Weltall der Zellen.

Can biological data be interpreted artistically? My works, summarized under the title "CYTO-GALAXIES", are expressionistic transformations of biological data that reflect life in the cell. With these transformations, the biological data lose their real location and begin a fantastic life of their own beyond their scientific origin. A cosmos of forms and colors emerges, which carries off into infinity, but is ultimately based on real molecular blueprints: a fictitious universe of cells.

I photographed the changes in the landscape and the bizarre legacies of the flood in the Ahr valley over a period of nine months. Torn branches, torn out bushes, trees and civilizational flotsam tangled together to form figures that symbolize silent witnesses of the catastrophe in a battered landscape. During the cleanup, more bizarre formations emerged from trash and junk, displaying a gruesome-beautiful aesthetic in a dystopian landscape.
